I just don’t see why this NEEDS to be changed. It is like the whole hub bub about the calendar. The Brits were the great world power when the whole system was set up. They were also largely responsible for charting the world’s oceans, and getting everyone to buy into an international standard. There really isn’t anything seriously wrong with the system as it is. Changing the coordinate system would entail a ridiculous amount of labor and confusion, especially in places which rely upon BOOKS and not the internet. You can’t change what is written in an already printed book with the push of a button. Maybe down the line, when everyone is already up to speed technologically, this would be an easier thing to accomplish. As it stands now, though, it smells of sour grapes.
